Classic Ford Models
With many of us interested in Classic Ford models I thought I'd finally start a thread about it. Not that kind of models! Get your minds out of the gutter guys The toy type, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, RC etc if its scale model of a Classic Ford post it here and we'll see if we can get some more life in the site. I know Deano keeps an eye out for the Hot Wheels releases as he passes them, they're my little treat for shopping with the girly and makes those arduous trips a little nicer. Theres a few Small Fords in the releases this year, Escort Cosworth (two colours) RS200 in Gulf livery etc. With the 60th anniversary of Mustang theres also a nice little set of them to collect Heres a link to all of the 2025 releases. List of 2025 Hot Wheels | Hot Wheels Wiki | Fandom One I've been looking for and is obviously close to my heart is the Mk1 Lotus Cortina that I found in Wollies this morning. See shopping with the Mrs isn't so bad after all

I have a few models of Escort and Capri Cologne models, an RS200 road version 1/18 . My most valuable model is a 1/18 MK2 Escort RS1800 British airways rally car too commemorated Bjorn Waldergaards 1979 championship. So what I hear... It is a super limited 1 of 50 signed by Bjorn with authentic certificate . I paid about £60 back in 2004 I think , it's gotta be worth heaps now. I don't collect model cars no more and all are still in boxes whether it's a basic red mk1 escort 1100 or bubble arch silver mk1, they are stored safety away

good idea Drew!. How do you know when you have reread back issues of CF magazine too many times? When you recognise the 'models' in Drews post. They were also pictured at a car show draped over the bonnet of a black hearse, all goth/dead like. But I digress. I dont have a favourite model as such, but will have to take a few pics. Have to keep an eye out for that Cortina, someone clears out our local Woolies of anything good, just leaving the Teslas, and American SUV.s behond. I'm lucky same as you Mark to also have been given models of cars I've owned, inc an MX5, RX8, and bonus if they are in the exact colour. A 1/18th Escort is on my wishlist, although the 1/10 RC model is filling that void for now. I hope your signed example is on display in the good room Marty, along side the expensive china and Royal Daultons. What else are you looking for? I'd like the rally transporter pack that came out a few years ago.

My paltry collection. Sad to say I have never bought one of these. Given to me by friends who are into them and for some reason think I might like one? Sorry just not my thing.

This is probably my favourite. Plastic model Capri I made when I was 19 and avoiding doing engineering homework. Not strictly in Pan Am accurate livery, and frankenstiened from other models with Mercedes rims, but it has followed me around since then. Lives on the stereo unit in the shed. The other one I like is another nicely detailed Capri. I like colour and side pipes and BBS, prob too good to live in the shed, but it does also. Thanks Drew about the Cortina, found 1 yesterday!

Yes I went down the road of trying to get my car in model form. Not many options so I went with a yellow Zakspeed, bonus its a slot car. I still get soundly beaten by my nephew on the Scalextric track but at least I look good doing it The matchbox ones are worth keeping an eye out for too. I see them in Wollies when shopping with the mrs. Theres a couple of Fiesta's out at the moment. Your cars look good Deano, yeah van imagine they would have been a welcome distraction from studying. Good to hear you got the Cortina a too. Theres only a couple more I'm looking for this year (I only pick up the Ford's and the F1's) I still need to find the RS200 in Gulf livery and the Redbull F1.

Drew did you see there's a new RS2000 coming: and finally a CApri for a change, complete with car transporter: and your mk1 Lotus Cortina in a few new colours. I think the above is mainly for the US markets, so we might have to go on the hunt next year to see what comes our way.

Fun fact, when I was an apprentice at Strapp Ford in Kew - which closed around 2005 and is now an office block - a old gentleman was restoring one of those lotus mk1 Cortinas and it had the exact same paintwork, not sure of the number he ran on it though. The dealer principal knew him really well and allowed him to store the car there and just come and go as he pleased. I can't remember the gentleman's name and he's probably passed on now - he was in his 70s back then - but he was really nice to a young small ford enthusiast and even helped me tune the carb a few times on my RS2000.
