Under dash brackets

Hi all, putting the interior back together after a long hiatus and I have these brackets yet to find a home.

None of my manuals go into enough detail. From what I've read online they're used for holding up the carpet under the dash?

I've looked around the pedals but just don't see where they'd screw into. Had a fiddle and I'm pretty sure I can secure the carpet without the brackets, would just make me happier to have the original part screwed in as opposed to sitting in my shed.

Any help appreciated

On my MK2, the bracket on the right of picture supports the radio/switch panel to the dash. It bolts to the front, lower, passenger side corner of the panel.

It has nothing to do with the heater/fan box - just looks like it from the angle of this photo.

Thanks for the info. It's a good place to start. The other bracket must screw into a similar sort of spot. Will try my luck with weekend
