MK1 Escort Sedan/Van Diff Differences

Hi everyone,

I'm in need of new rear wheel bearings but when I look on Ebay they advertise Sedan and Vans as being different. Can anyone shine some light on this?

    What diff are you running? English?  Maybe with a van carrying more weight they need heavier bearings? Sealed/Unsealed?  Anyone got a parts book?  Just my 20c worth...

    On the attached parts book scans -
    54 = 4dr sedan, 62 = 2dr sedan, 78 = van
    67cid = 1100, 79cid = 1300, 95cid = twin cam
    The parts list shows all Mk1's sedans and vans used english axles up to 8/71.
    All sedans and vans (exc. twin cam) after 8/71 used what I believe is an Australian made Borg Warner axle.
    The Mk1 microfiche parts list shows all Mk1's from 70 to 75 use the same bearing part No. AUB24.
    All Australian Mk2 Escorts used english axles and the microfiche list shows them all also using bearing AUB24.

    Ive got a Borg Warner apparently from a mk1 auto sedan. It has a 4.11 ratio which I thought was a van ratio. Really I have no idea if it's originally a van or sedan diff. Got concerned when I looked at bearings and the listing said not suited for vans or wagons. If the bearings are suppose to be the same regardless of van or sedan I might take the risk and give it a go.

    Remove both bearings from vehicle.
    Go to bearing company who will identify the bearings by the number on the bearing.
    How hard is it?
