Hello and welcome, car looks great nice to see another one from the west, hang onto those original plates I reckon they look heaps better than the new 'brand WA' ones.
Sing out if you need any help or advice, plenty of good people on here...

You had the country town series plates Whooligan, KM is the prefix for Kalamunda (perth hills) I've got BE for Beverley (wheatbelt) on the Cortina. We had 3 letters 3 numbers through the 50's to late 70's then number 2 letters 3 numbers to the 90's now its number 3 letters 3 numbers...
Sorry to hijack the thread liam.obi, good work holding onto those plates on your car...

XJF would have been standard issue at the time from a metropolitan dealer or license centre. Corrections Whooligan MD would have been Merredin (wheat belt) the country plates will also have a dot between the letters and numbers or not depending on whether it is a city or a town according to population. Eg WN.111 would the city of Wanneroo. Y 111 would be the town of York. Useless bit of info really unless you play plate spotto on road trips, haha that'd be me...
