anyone running a v4?

Noticed at the local wreckers they have 2 transits both with v4s, one auto one manual.
Out of interest as I know nothing about them, what gearbox and autos did they use behind them?

Quirky looking little engines, like baby v6's.

The v4 was a chunk... stay away from unless desperate. That are a v6 with 2x cyls missing . The gearbox is similar to Capri v6 except 1st gear is way low (about 4.5:1) for towing then the big jump to 2nd gear ,and the stick is a mile long which comes out half way down the housing... Also stay clear from unless desperate ! I could be wrong but !

I've been in the motor trade for over 40 years: old enough to remember these Ford V4's were nothing but trouble from day1..............keep well away, like all the other informed ones who saw them before you and kept walking

Sorry missed the post. They're at imlachs, centre rd wreckers. From centre road looking towards the yard, one is about half way down on the left and boundary wall/edge, the other right against the back wall with some other commercial vehicles. It has a furniture truck style rear and is facing outwards.

Dont worry, no interest in the engines just didn't know much about them and thought the gearboxes or autos might be of use for bits.
