Close Ratio 4speeds?

The 4 speed single rail boxes that came in the MK2 Cortina, 1600GT capri etc, with 2.97 first gear.
I haven't seen much info about them. Can they be used behind pintos in Escort shells? Do the extension housings need to be swapped for escort to line up the shifter hole?

Thanks

I had one behind a stonking hot 1600..or 1800 come to think of it and was a straight forward install. The stock hole needs moving back a couple inches and the gearbox mounts will need some small mods but otherwise if you've got one. . Get it in there ! Use a Capri 1600 GT clutch kit. You might need to swap the input yoke to suit the gearbox if not have one already. .

Thanks Marty. That helps explain why there's not much info about them (not the most straight forward of jobs)

You mentioned a Capri 1600GT clutch kit. Only good for a xflow though right?  I've got 2L

It might pay for me to elongate the shifter hole to suit both T9 and 4 speed Close Ratio
