mk1 Escort manual gearbox ID

Hello everyone out there. Can someone tell me is the 4 speed gear box out of a mk1 Escort 1300xl the same same as a mk2 Escort or Cortina of the same time (1300/ 1600 motors). I need to do a rebuild on the box & want to get the right parts.
I believe they are called a type E on Burton power.

    If your car is made upto the yr 1973 it will have the (one piece box)namely Type2 or in UK called the 1300 Sport box..it has a better 1st gear ratio than the type E mk2 box, yet the type2 can't handle too much power .thru 1973 it was swapped for the mk2 typeE box,
    TC to TF Cortina have the same box tho it's gearstick is right at the back of the tail housing as to 3inch forward as escorts have . The UK RS2000 has the Cortina box where the stick is back more ...which is as legend has it that they invented the quick shift so when in 2nd the stick doesn't clout the handbrake handle !

    Yep - what Marty said.  Put simply, if your MK1 box has a removable bell housing it will be the same as any MK2 box with the only variation being the speedo drive gear depending on what diff ratio it had

    Make it go FASTER!
