MK2 escort rear brakes not working ...
Hi All,
Im now getting to the final stages of getting the car ready for a roadworthy, and tonight went to bleed the brakes after putting back in the master cylinder / brake lines etc....
The problem I have is that the rear brakes are getting no pressure at all it would seem. The fronts bled no problems, but the rears aren't bleeding at all. To test wether the brakes were working at the rear, I jacked up the rear of the car, handbrake off, out of gear and got my wife to stand on the brake pedal. The rear wheels spun freely with no brake action at all.
Brakes are pretty basic, so im guessing the problem cant be too complicated?. The first thing that pops into my head is the pressure differential switch. But to be honest I don't really know what it does? (or rather how it works). While cleaning up all the bits and pieces on my car I pulled the switch apart, and it was all rusted and seized inside. I cleaned it up as best I could, but really don't know if I made it any better.
It could also be a blockage somewhere in the line to the rear of the car.
Does anyone have any ideas as to where the problem may lie?.
Dave
