pinto engine mounts to wcxm dont meet up

Hi im doing a 4 door mk2 escort up but run into a slight problem i rebuilt a 2.0 pinto engine to drop straight on to the wcxm i know the long mount goes to the drivers side and short to the passengers, the engine was from a sierra so still got the same sump which has been beaten in to fit problem is when I lowered the engine in the mounts don't match up with the wcxm as if the mounts are too short so I bolted the drivers side mount when I got the passengers therewas at least a inch gap anything I've messed up really wants to Finnish this project asap
