Nice tidy car .be a good start for someone. Has a few non original tweaks but only purist would pick them. But the pics don't do in justice. Interesting to see what the FINAL figure will be.

This car has been in our club displays often and the color is a standout. I havnt minutely examined it but it presents very well. Any non standard parts could be easily removed if thats your thing, personaly I like a car with extras. I dunno about the rear spoiler but hey it looks good so why not? The front spoiler is a rs3100 type and realy looks like its meant to be there. I fitted one of these to my capri back in the day and I reckon it realy works at high speed. Anything mechanical can be fixed easy its the body thats important and this one is a cracker, but dont expect it to be given away.

Bit disappointing saying that its probably not the right selling avenue I would be taking. I'm thinking he's set the reserve at a fair price for this standard of car. Time wasters really only going to 19k if generally serious wouldn't you think you would go the extra $$ and grab a really nice car. Bit of a no brainer really .. I'd be hanging onto if possible and wait for the right buyer..

yes 19K is certainly a bit lean for this car, as hotboostgt says most of the bidders are just looking for a cheap bargain and are not serious buyers. Interestly hotboost you say its not the right selling avenue in your opinion, I tend to agree that its a bit of a risk selling on e-bay as you would always prefer your capri to go to another true enthusiast, however putting a car on e-bay gets so much more exposure it would be hard not to consider it as a genuine option? - getting the right new owner for your car is one things but also trying to get the best price is another.

I really like this car, as it reminds me of a car I lusted after as a teenager (I asked, but it wasn't the same one :)). I'd be interested in what his reserve was.

I think ebay is a genuine avenue for selling collectable cars, however the trade off is that with the increased exposure comes increased exposure to idiots. Selling through Shannons gives you more protection from idiots as it's registered 'bums on seats' doing the bidding. Any 12yo kid seems to be able to register on ebay and bid for stuff they have no intention of buying.

This may be a question for another thread, but how do you determine who is a 'true' enthusiast? Is the person who can only afford to bid to 18k less of an enthusiast than another person who can bid to 25k?

    Cheers

I guess when I said 'true enthusiast' what I really meant was someone who isnt going to do a v8 conversion or something similar to a nice original V6 example, I think you're right, Shannon gives you a bit more peace of mind in that area.  What a person can or cant afford really dosnt come into it.  The probelm with E-bay is you will end up selling to the highest bidder - this person may have full intention of converting/modifying a great original classic. On the flip side to that I guess the car is no longer yours, you got top $$$ and you will most likely never see it again.

Seeing the car in person its worth every bit  of that plus some. If almost going out on a limb and say low $30k. But  end of the day  all comes down buyer. I would maybe have tried Shannon's considering the money been they have getting 4 bangers. I think it reflects the market n general as whoops said. Wild violet come on $19k bit of insult for poor Paul. Hope he can hang on to it.
