Bilstien Inserts in 2l Struts. Help very very much appreciated

Hi all,
Trying to use bilstein inserts in a non coilover setup. Is this possible?
The idea is to use it as non coilover for now but later on convert it when I decide which path I want to take the car down.
Can you just slot them in if you have an M12 drilled in the bottom? or is it a lot more involved?
I've spent so long looking I would seriously appreciate any help :)
Cheers,
Matt

It can be done but how reliable they are I am not sure . the problem with the 2L strut it that is too large for the inset  or more the fact the 2 strut bush’s the insert slides against also the strut seal to stop dirt getting into the strut you can buy the bits from Gartrac http://gartrac.com/shop/front-suspension-leg-parts/367-strut-bush.html  but you need a second tube inside or get the bush’s custom made

     here is a good link

    http://www.turbosport.co../showthread.php?t=157492

i just inherited a  set that that used the out side tube of a old bilstien shock as the internal tube the bush goes into but it lacked the seal on top so the grease was very dirty on one insert took a lot of encouragement to get out when is should have slid freely . i am going to buy some new bush’s for it and  seal and see if I can get it to work  unless someone das any other tips

Wow thanks so much I didn't see that in all my hunting, looks a lot more complicated than I was told. Using a coilover conversion kit do you have to do all that dicking about to fit it?

Another note I should have made is that I have the 2l struts out of an rs2000 with no hole in the bottom

Not sure then what shocks are available for the 2 ltr ones.  I am using Koni's in Capri struts.

the coil over conversion is pretty easy with koni or even standard shock its jusn more tricky with the upside down style bilstien shock

Thank you for your inquiry regarding KONI Shock Absorbers for you Ford Escort MKII.
The part number that you have quoted is no longer made and the alternative is that used for the Ford Capri/Perana.  Please note that this alternative is for a lowered vehicle only and I assume that by using it on the track that it is so, as the damper is 34mm shorter in the open length.
The part numbers are as follows:
For vehicle front use KONI SPORT (yellow) Part Number 86-1835Sport-recommended retail price $492.00 per pair includes GST.  These units are adjustable for 'rebound' forces only and not for 'bump' forces after removal from
the vehicle and are currently in stock at our warehouse.
