Rear leaf/shock saddle Q

Hi all,

I was attempting to fit a set of 146lb single leaf springs on the weekend, and noticed the bolt hole to secure the saddle is too narrow for the factory saddle. The bolt is part of the saddle, so I can't just use a different bolt.

Has anybody else with experience with these 146lb single leaf springs got any ideas for me? I sent the mob I bought the springs from an email and they told me they don't use a saddle, which didn't make any sense because I don't know how else the shock absorber would attach to the spring other than black magic, but I'm not qualified to use that.
