Lubricating steering rack

Hi
I have a replacement rack for the Capri but it needs lubricating, I was told to grease it but the book S.P. Workshop Manual Series (Gregory type) said to
" Up end the rack and pour a 1/4 of a pint of SAE 90 EP oil into the casing under the track rod inner ball joint. Move the rack to and fro to assist the oil to flow into the casing."
any suggestions as to which method is the best to use.

John

as it says. pull the rack boot off. plug the end with your finger, fill the boot up with oil, and fit the drumstick into the boot.
sliding the boot on, then zip tie it on the tip up the other way while operating the rack...

I used grease in  my racks for the last 30 years and never had a problem, and no oil leaks.
