1969 FORD CORTINA MK2 GT - FORSALE

1969 FORD CORTINA MK2 GT

The time has come to regretfully sell my Cortina Mk2 GT. Owned for about 8 years and has had money spent on pretty much everything. Garaged and driven mostly on weekends, the current motor has only done around 12,000km (7000 miles). Not a loud car but definitely a head turner! Most of the work was done about 3-4 years ago, and has been garaged since.

BODY:
The body was fully repaired about three years ago where the whole car was stripped back and painted with repairs to rust. The colour is now Ultra White, with a glossy black bonnet and gold stripes. The condition is still good and polishes up very nice (as seen in the pictures).

INTERIOR:
The interior was also restored about two years ago with new hood lining and carpet (black). The dash was also repaired (but currently has a bubble on the top).

The front seats have just been re- upholstered (brand new) and the back seat is original. The door trims are straight and the plastic centre console is in good condition given its age. The boot and rear parcel shelf has been carpeted neat and is still like new.

I still have the original radio which can be installed but currently it’s fitted with a Pioneer deck, and two pioneer 6x9” speakers with a boss amp. The car needs to have the rear vision mirror and interior light re-fitted (everything is under the hood lining). All the electrics were re-wired when the car was a rolling shell.

ENGINE:
About three and a half years ago, the engine was re-built by Peter Larner (www.larnerengines.com.au ). I sent the original GT motor to Victoria, and it was compression and crack tested. A new head and bottom end were fitted (with old crank) and worked. The rebuild involved new seats and hardened valves (now runs on unleaded), worked cam, 45mm S/D Weber, port and polish etc. The 1600 was been bored to 1660 with 10.5:1 compression. Also, flywheel has been lightened and balanced. Has 128hp and 130ft/lb at the flywheel. It has pacemaker extractors and two large mufflers (otherwise very loud) with new exhaust.
It is a very torquey motor and pulls very well. Would suit a 5spd gearbox. The original 4spd gearbox is unchanged, and currently has a competition clutch (Borg and Beck).

OTHERS:
The diff axels were overhauled about 5 years ago.
Slotted disks on front with overhauled callipers (about 2 years ago)
Rear drums were machined with new brake cylinders and shoes (about 2 years ago)
Front strut brace 45mm
Steering box was overhauled
Alternator overhauled
New core in radiator
Has new rubbers and seals throughout
Changed lenses and surrounds for tail lights
 15x7” Globes with good rubber
Have spare front grills
Have a 4spd short shift
Have spare GT badges and FORD badges
Will have 6 months rego (unless sold prior to Feb).

Asking Price $18,500

Dennis, the 128hp is at the flywheel. This was the reading taken by learner in their workshop when it was first built. Its still a tight motor with potential to get more hp. I've considered twin 40's and electronic ignition next :)

Thanks Warren. This home has too many cars to hold onto!
