2.5" or 2.25" exhaust for 2.1 Rally pinto

Hi all

At a rally on the weekend my exhaust was smashed to bits by rocks and what not so i need a new exhaust from the extractors (handmade 4 into 1 collector), i currently have a 2.25" one that turns 90 degrees under the gearbox and goes over the diff to a straight through oval muffler at the rear. I was thinking of going up to a 2.5" with a lesser bend (say 60 or 45 degree) under the gearbox and have a round muffler over oval one at the rear? would this work? or am i better off sticking with the 2.25" exhaust?

Motor is roughly 2130cc, RL31 kent cam, big valve head twin 45's etc
Cheers
Matty

There is no point in running a 2.5" if the extractors only have a 2.25" outlet!

I have managed to get a 2.5" running straight down the drivers side and over the diff to a rear hung muffler, but I did have to move the rear brake line connection to the passenger side.
