8 & 3/4in borg warner XY diff --> any good for a mk1/mk2?

Hi all,
 
Mate has the above, was full recoed, 28 spline with 3.50 gears, xf cross drilled disks & wants $400, question is:
 
1. Good price?
 
2. How easy/hard to convert to suit mk1/mk2 escort?
 
3. Worth the trouble or just get a Hilux...?
 
Motor wise i'll be running Sr20 turbo.
 
any info appreciated.

    I've run one in my rally car for over ten years without any problem. It's a fair bit of fabrication/modifying to get it in though.

    Its the same family as the commonly used Borg Warner from later cars...eg Skyline/Pintara, Commodore VL to VR, Falcon XY to AU etc. Will be fine for the SR20DET has been well capable in my Cortina and Marks RS2000 both making over 400hp. One thing worth keeping in mind is that the factory Borg Warner LSD's are not the best...400hp will destroy one in no time...Kaaz LSD's are a good replacement, Im yet to see one fail.
