Clutches!!!

I am in need of a new clutch and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I was probably going to go with just the standard or slightly uprated nothing too crazy as the car is my everyday. The engine is a 1600 kent soon to have a mild cam probably a 234 or 244 maybe an A2 and twin 40 DCOE's.

I have been looking at the Exedy range but don't really know too much about them...

Cheers

Michael

Depends how you drive as well.. but its just worth going heavy duty anyway. I think they give much better feel and will serve you better with some light mods.
The other thing id do is to move to an uprated pressure plate. Giving more force for the clutch. Nothing crazy here just a heavy duty or slightly uprated item.
It will give a slightly harder quicker pedal feel, which can be a touch more tricky when taking off, but you'll find is much better when your actually moving.
Exedy clutches are very common. Pretty sure they are seen as decent general items.

I have an exedy sports tuff clutch but wont buy one again. when i had my engine balanced the pressure plate was out by about 30 grams! It now has 3 10mm holes drilled in one side and a tab welded direrctly opposite to get the thing to balance! Australian clutch services are a manufacturer in Adelaide and their main engineer has a heap of experience with Escorts in rally and motorsport. Give them a call.

I use a std 1600GT capri clutch pressure plate on a 1700 xflow , twin side drafts, big valves and cam, never had a problem. I did have to open up the dowl holes on one AP plate but that was  years ago and very simple to do.
You could up grade to a pinto clutch and pressure plate, but thats a bit of a hassel. I dont think its worth the trouble.

Clutch Industries have the RPM sports range, which have a few options for the type of clutch plate, using the same heavy duty pressure plate.  You should be able to get these locally through various auto stores.
