Auto Trans options

Hi All,
I have a 1980 mk2 panny van project i have just aquired and will be starting soon, it currently has what i think is a c3 but may be a bw35, now i know i'm going against the grain here but i'm pretty keen to keep it auto but i know they are pretty weak, has anyone fitted a c4 to a pinto before, or any other auto trans for that fact.
Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers
Benny Mac

From memory the BW35 is stock unit for escort.

Get a hold of David Vizards 'How to Modify Ford S.O.H.C. Engines' - has a very detailed 20 page step by step chapter for modifying a C3/4 to suit high performance Pinto application.

    BW35 were used in MK1's. MK2's had C3's

Yeah i was pretty sure it was a c3. Cheers.
And yeah, had a look at that book but unfortunately it wont help me till i get a c4 in there. The title says its for a c3 but the write up is for a c4. :(
Ah well, was hoping some one at some stage would of done it before but thats life, i'll keep researching, but it looks like i'll have to nut it out myself. I'll document it for future reference for other people once i sort it out.
    Cheers
