my dilemma, 1.6l or Pinto

OK Guys

Here is the dilemma you all would like to have.

My escort is setup with 2L brakes, sierra 5 speed.
I have a 1.6l with a ported head, unknown compression, twin webber manifold, lightened flywheel to suit. This motor is in good order only removed to paint the engine bay.
I have twin 45 webbers matched set, 38mm chokes, jetted for a 2l pinto. To fit these to the 1.6L will likely reqire rejetting.

Also i have a 2l, with ported head 40thou over and only 100,000ks. i have a full rebuild kit to suit this engine, with piston rings and bearings. To fit this engine will require an engineers certificate and modifiy the radiator support panel. This will require a repaint of the radiator panel, not keen on that either.

So im asking What would you do.

No brainer - Pinto. It'll be worth the extra hassle.

Sounds like you have a Mk1 then? Depending on where you are, it's debatable as to whether you need an engineer's report to fit a Pinto in a Mk1.

yes it is a Mk1 4 door, im in NSW. i had one a few years ago. Prior to all the blue slip laws. i let it run out of rego and when i went to blue slip it. i was told it needed engineering. So i didnt bother doing anything with it.
The old shell is still sitting at  my fathers. All the components now sitting in this shell.
