Group A RS500

Hi Guys, my Sierra turned up last week from England its a RS500 that raced in the 1989 BTCC, very much a back marker ( more DNF,s than finishes!) Only the one year in BTCC then a hard life after that.
Its all in pieces now and needs a full rebuild back to BTCC livery.

Once I get started you will be seeing plenty of pics of the rebuild.

First step is getting the Cams certificate of description underway as I plan to race in Historic Group A and C races.
Cheers
Carl

Thanks for the good support, I'm guessing its going to take at least 12 months to having looking good!

For any of you going to the lakeside touring car race meeting,I will be there with my Group C Capri, good to catch up.

This is the Cosworth Sierra in 1989 and how I will bring it back to.
    Cheers

Looks very nice Carl! Like everyone else I can't wait to see more. I actually have a Terry Drury Racing Cam cover. I'm hoping to be at lakeside so I'll look out for you.

There should be 3 or 4 of us at Lakeside in our road going Sierras, so we'll head over and catch up.

    Hi Carl,

I have had another look over the cam cover & there is no numbers stamped on it just his logo. So do we get to see some current photos of the car to get an idea of what your starting with? Do you know the full history of your car?

    Cheers Matt

Good to meet and chat with you too Carl.

Thanks for the photos, looks like a reasonable base to start with.

Good luck at the Muscle Car Masters, it sounds like they put on a great show down there.

    Hi Carl..
It is great to see you have the old girl. I was a trainee at TDR cars in late 87/90 when these cars was built, Donovans car was always my favorite looking car. We build a total of 3 cosy's for the BTCC group A which if honest wasn't so succesful, the yr before they was racing a Escort RS Turbo in the group B and if memory serves me right they came 8th in championship with that car and 4th in Group A with Tim Harvey driving it. It was this position that caused them to suddenly have such interest from drivers to build 3 cars in the yr. we was a total of 4 that built them, Me as trainee Graham as head fabricator Dick as engine, turbo and Gearbox builder and Terry mapping the chips. however we also hired in a car painter to paint the vehicles and a friend of terry's drove the lorry with the cars in.. hard times with many many hours of labour but it was a labour of love.
