72GT Seat Mounts

I have a 72GT V6 and a 69GT 1600 Automatic. The seat mounts between the 2 cars are not the same. The V6 has had steel angles welded to the floor and the seats have been mounted onto these angles. The weld quality is top notch, but to me is not factory am I correct?. The reason I ask is the 1600 GT has the standard nuts welded and plated under the floor and is the standard factory fitting of all cars I have seen. Any help in clarifying would be appreciated thanks.

Mine is a 72 V6 and just has the nuts welded underneath, I have never seen any with angles before.

IIRC one set bolts through the chassis outrigger and one doesn't, the tracks ae different accordingly, most likely someone welded brackets onto your floor to fit later model high backs or recaros etc

Oh poo jam, was hopeing that people were going to say, ah yes some models came from the factory like that. The car was fitted with 2 drivers side seats any how and not factory high back ones. I have a set of after market bucket seats that need a re trim and am going to fit these into the car, atleast they are driver and passenger. Does anyone have a set of high backs they no longer want or need?

I take it you mean original high backs? I got rid of the original low backs and put in some cloth high backs out of a suzuki swift. They have served me well for many years but I am about to fit some recaros so the swift seats will be going soon. They are dark and light grey with red piping.

The scheel seats out of the RS 2000 are a great fit - had them in my first capri.
