Removing the radio and amplifier surround

Hey Guys,

I managed to get a standard amp for my car, so it's time to remove the aftermarket headunit and replace it with the standard radio and amplifier.

I can see two screws at the top of the surround, does anyone know whether it's just a matter of taking these out and pulling out the black surround. Or does the whole lower part of the dash have to come out?

Paul.

    Hi Paul,

You shouldn't have to pull the whole lower dash section out to reinstall your original radio & amp. I can't remember off the top of my head weather the black section comes out it's been so long. I seem to remember they were support screws & the black section is part of the lower dash. Anyway I didn't have to remove any of that on the white 3dr when I took it back to original. I think you will just need to slide out the cd player & what ever is installed instead of the amp & then sort out the wiring & replace the factory bits. Anyway it's not that easy to explain in text so just give me a call if you need a hand mate.

    Cheers Matt

Yeah it seems that the surround is actually part of the lower dash, so it'd be a case of taking the whole lower dash out (which I'm keen to avoid if possible)

I'll have a crack at it on the weekend and give you a call if I get stuck.
