EOI-VIC MK1 Escort 2dr 1972

Hey guys,

Been thinking long and hard about this and not quite sure what I should do which is why this is only an EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST for now.

I have a MK1 2 door Coupe. Brown in colour ( original) with all the orginal panels still on it. Was originally an old lady's car but has been mine for the last 10 years.

I stripped it down to a rolling shell a few years ago in anticipation of a full rebuild, but unfortunately haven't gotten around to fixing it up due to time, money and family. I've been slowly collecting bits and pieces for it over the years, but still need more to get it sorted.

The body is a little rough, but is almost rust free. The only rust in it is on the L/H/R wheel arch dogleg, the spare wheel well, and the front rad support panel where the battery tray used to be.
The front panels have dents along the front edges and the LHF has a dent in the wheel arch. The RHR 1/4 panel has suffered some damaged in a previous life right on the back edge and the whole panel is a bit out of shape. The car was also rear ended at some point but not too heavily. The rear panel is pushed in a little but the lower section seems to have copped the brunt of it. All the dents in the body work can be repaired, but worse case scenario, new sections could be used.

Now parts wise, the car is complete apart from the front and rear seats, steerign wheel and carpet which werent there when I bought it. The orignal 1300cc engine is also gone, but the transmission is still there.
Other parts I have for it ( everything I have will go with the car if I decide to sell)

1) 2ltr Pinto engine- was in perfect running condition and had been rebuilt about 2 years before it was removed from the last car, but has been sitting for 8 years.
2) 4 speed to suit pinto
3) single piece tailshaft
4) complete fuel injection system including manifold (with iac valve injectors and fuel rail), Throttle body, air flow meter, electronic distributor, ecu and complete wiring harness.
5) 2 wrx turbos
6) n/a extractors
7) V6 Capri front struts with lowered springs
8) v6 capri front discs but with 2 ltr calipers.
9) 11 point alloy roll cage.
10) spare front and rear windscreens
11) 2 spare bonnets
12) spare rear panel ( where taillights mount)
13) 8 13 x 6, 6 holed rims
14) 2 13 x 6 bathurst globes
15) 2 13 x 6 dragway mags
16) 2 4 speed short shifters
17) 6 clock gauge cluster ( can't remember which one it is though, been in storage for a long time. orignally purchased while I was in the UK).
18) 6 clock dash pad in need of retrim
19) new front chassis strenghtening gussets
20) 2 spare retangular grilles,
21) front bumperettes- I think I have 2 sets but can't remember
22) custom standard dash with speedo and fuel/temp guage replaced with tacho
23) modified taiwanesse LHF guard.
24) standard 1300 radiator
25) standard 2ltr radiator
26) standard 2ltr auto radiator
27) spare set of good condition lower control arms with poly bushes fitted.
28) 2 inch lower blocks and u bolts.
29) Modified front crossmemeber to allow for more camber.

I'm sure there is more but can't remember off the top of my head. Will have to go through everything and make a list of all the parts I have.

I have started doing some work on it though. Some of the engine bay has been seam welded and the heater bubble has been removed to double check for any rust ( which there was none!) The upper and lower sections of the rad support panel has been cut out to accomodate a 2 ltr radiator and engine set-up, but they need to be tidied up alot more.

Everything to put the car back together is in boxes that unfortunately are no longer marked due to how long they have been sitting for, but everything is there.

Was originally planning to build this as a track car to have some fun with, but have another car for that, and I unfortunately don't think I will ever be able to build this car up to be what I want it to be. I've held onto the dream for 10 years and I think I'm reaching the point where I have to let it go. I don't think I will ever be able to get another one of these cars again, hench the reason for all the parts going with it.

If you are interested, please contact me via email first at: ledlights@live.com.au
I'm open to all reasonable offers for now, and inspections are welcomed ( although I don't have all the parts in the one spot).

Again, this is an Expression Of Interest Only, and I WILL NOT SELL PARTS SEPERATELY. SHOW INTEREST IN THE LOT OR NOTHING AT ALL.

I will post up some pics shortly.

I'm very surprised. Thought I'd have more people interested, especially seeing as how so many people have viewed the thread.

If there was enough interest then I would be selling, but no interest means I'll be keeping it and selling my other car instead.

Don't know that no replies means no interest. I think you will get a better response I'd you give people an idea of how many $$$$ you are looking for.

Personally I don't bother replying if there us no rough price range. The last few eoi type posts I replied on to I got very insulting emails from the seller with them telling me how much their gear cost new, how rare it al is, etc, etc. I offered what the item was worth to me and since found out I could buy it for less new myself, lol.

Tell people what you want for it all and you might be surprised and sell it in one go. I'm sure there are a few people on this forum who could give you a pretty good idea of what it's all worth.

Thanks. I know that what Ive paid for everything and what I will get are two different things. I've got no idea what price to put on it which is why I've done it as an eoi first. I do have a price in mind but it may not be what others have for it. I'm genuine and open to offers. I also welcome people to come view it and the parts. Again, if the right money is offered I will sell.

Chippa, i agree totally with Harrier. I can never be bothered with expressions of interest because it gives no indication of whether you want $1000 or $10,000 for it.

I may be interested but im not going to try and guess your price. Email me a rough idea of what you are thinkingand i'll get back to you either way.

I always thought that EOI in a listing was asking for pms along the lines of "I'm interested. What sort of price are you after" followed by a few emails back and forth and some negotiation.

Maybe a For Sale by Tender listing would be more appropriate if your chasing offers.

Or maybe i've spent too much time in recent months talking to realestate agents...

    Well Steve,

I just wanted to get an idea of whether or not there is anyone out there who would want it and how much they would be willing to pay for it all. I haven't got a glue what everything is worth as a total package which is also why I put it out there, but if you want a price I can give you a figure I have in my head for it all and you can let me know if it is fair.

The more I think about this the more I think I will sell this car. So if you are genuinely interested in it then get in touch with me and I will let you know how much I want for it all. Simple. If you agree then it's yours, if you don't then I get to keep it a little while longer.

I'd have several pieces of anatomy that I'm quite fond of removed by the Missus if I made an offer on your project Chippa. I was bored in the Pizza shop and was more thinking out loud as I've posted a couple of EOIs in the for sale bit in the past.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do with the car/s.
