Gauges for track car

From personal experience what are some decent brands of gauges? They dont need to be flash just reliable. I plan on running:

Boost
Tacho
Water temp
Oil pressure
Volts

If you could suggest anything else I may need would be good

just stick with either Autometer or stuart warner. under no circumstance will I ever get a speco guage again. Almost cooked an engine due to failure of a speco guage. absolute rubbish.

    Fuel pressure for sure!
Oil Temp in sump yes!...... and gearbox if serious
    Pyro/EGT, nice
    wideband Lambda, wicked
Inlet x2 (before and after intercooler)...Not necessary but awesome!
    Amps
...water pressure in cooling system, okay going overboard...[88][:o)]

Now if you talk to Phil he will say "89 gauges minimum." I saw his car recently and there are more gauges than people have had hot dinners, nice AND insane....[:o)]

I got my autometer gauges from summit racing. I got oil pressure, oil temp, water temp and a wideband air/fuel gauge.

Price will all depend on what type of gauge you buy. You can get stepper motor gauges that can control relays etc at more than 200 ea or you can simple mechanical gauges for much less.

Have a look at this link.

Nigel, those gauges look great. i think the idle is a bit high though, considering its 0 on the speedo [(#)](in boxed photos)

When buying gauges don't go cheap options as they are just not reliable enough when your relying on them.

    santa,

I just bought a set of gauges and senders for both my cars (boost, oil press and oil temp) on-line through these guys ... http://www.egauges.com/default.asp

They were prompt (delivered within the week), can pay with paypal now and cheap ... even better with the AUS dollar so strong.

I highly recommend them and I doubt you'll find cheaper anywhere for big brands such as Defi, Autometer and VDO.

I bought VDO because I think they suit period cars the best ... simple, black, orange needle with green back through lighting ... and they have a good rep.

    Good luck.
