Sunvisors

can anyone help with my sunvisor issue?
Just bought the passenger side however it appears to not fit, I have extended the left arm as far as possible but still will not suit my setup. Can anyone see what the issue is, I have included pic of my driver side as well. Sorry it is a MK1 V6

it appears that they are two different visors, as you can see the pass side has a recess where the left arm protrudes and the drivers side has none, unless they came out like this. I suppose the question is which one is the original?

The passenger side one looks as original. My guess is someone has put a shorter visor on the drivers side and moved the centre plastic keeper over to the right to reach it and now the original left visor looks short.
Check that the keeper is in the centre.
The spine of the visor should be 440mm long from the tip to the centre of the part that screws into the headlining.
The original mirror is 210mm wide.

Your car is a 1970 build isn't it? If so, your car would have originally had the earlier visors, rather than the syle you currently have fitted. It looks as if someone has fitted a visor setup from a Falcon (XA/XB/XC). As they are a wider car than the Capri, the outer mounting points would have to be further out, the visors would have been longer, and possibly the centre keeper was narrower.

The original visor has an overall length of around 505mm (which includes the inner mounting shaft which pushes into the centre keeper), the padded section has an overall length of 470mm and the recess you describe on your passenger side visor should be around 100mm long.

The outside mounting points should be approx. 125mm from the inside of the A-pillars. It's hard to judge from the photo, but your mounting points appear to be less than this measurement, which could be where you're running into trouble. The centre keeper also appears to be smaller than standard, but again, this is hard to judge from the photo.

    Cheers

Thanks for everyone's help, I will take some more measurements.
The larger visor setup with the outside mountings moved further out to accommodate sounds like a reasonable explanation to my problems.

I have the mate to the PS visor and the centre clip. Only thing is the skin has broken around the screw hole and there is a crack in the far right seam
