I got the id plate and numbers hope someone can help with it,

There are tale tell signs of a orignal v6 gt with different parts and body bracing, than a 4 cylinder. if somebody is willing to do the work to restore the car than it might be worth something, if its a basket case and to rusty it all depends on what is left on the car in good nick.I got a bargain last xmas with v6 gt for $2500, it was ruff(still is) but was all there and is now regoed. hope this helps, O

What do you plan to do with the ID plate, hopefully not something illegal?

    ? NO

My friend says someone would by it
as a collector if it was a real GT.

Im going to have one more look today
    and give him an answer.

    thanks for your help :)

All Aust delivered V6 capris were GT's. Its not like a GT falcon, the ID plate is only of value - not a great deal- to someone doing a re-birth. If you can post some pictures of the car I'm sure we can advise you as to whether it's worth $2000

Glad to hear it, although it did certainly sound like you (or your friend) thought the compliance plate was worth something by itself. I would say it's worth more on the original car than anywhere else.

As said above, pictures would be the best way to give an opinion on value. I have a small hunch that I know the car you're looking at (if you're in the Sydney area). If I'm right, it's not worth much except for parts.

    Let us know.
