map light bracket

HI all,

I have attached a picture of an original ford map light bracket. It goes in between the map light switch and the underside of dash. There are 4 holes on the outside for the map light, they fit perfectly - the three holes in the middle are a bit of a mystery. My question is - to attach the map light, using the bracket to the underside of the dash do i use the screws that hold the actual map light on and go through the bracket into the dash or do i use short screws and screw the map light onto the bracket then use additional screws through the 3 "mystery holes" in the middle. Either way it seems to me that i will have to drill more holes in the underside of the dash which is something I will do if i have to but want to avoid. Has anyone got a map light in their Capri ? can you help me out ?
