no 4th! help!
well i did something with the escort (that i would rather not say publically)
and afterwards i have no 4th,
i still have 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and they are still easy to put in and take out of gear, nothign weird, except when u go to put it into 4th it just doesnt let you put it into gear, it physically doesn't let you put the shifter much lower that the neutral position....??
ill be doing 4000rpm to get to work 2moro and i would prefer if i didn't have to deal with it for long lol..
thanks in advance!!

Have you changed something on the gearbox recently? Try removing the shifter and use a screw driver to see if you are able to get 4th.
If you can, then I would be inspecting the shifter.
Can you get reverse?
Thanks Craig

yeah i pulled ou tthe shifter and tried with a screwdriver, it just wont let me get into 4th,
and yes i can still get reverse,
one thing i noticed was, if i pushed really hard in the direction of 4th, then i have to push really hard to get into any other gear,
once i get it into a different gear, pull it out, then its easy to change gears again.
(still without 4th obviously)

Sterling - I think you may need this... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250671024889&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
or I have a couple of 2Lt manual boxes...
Sounds like you were a little rough on the shifter and have bent a selector fork possibly...

hope this is right
sounds like the spring and ball in the frount of the gear box has poped off when the gear rail moved to far back---- did you take the gear lever out or mess with it -----and that spring and ball ( well i think its bullet shaped ) is know stoping the rail from moving forwords -- OK you may and i say may be able to undo the scrwe that holds the ball and spring in its on the top left of the pasingers side of the gear box---- undo it and try and pull the ball back --
hell good luck hope that helps ----there is a way of stoping this from happering but you have to do it when the box is a part ---
