I don't think the track changed but they typically used 7.5" wheels, which were wider on the outside. Therefore, the overall track width from edge to edge did change but not the hub to hub width. That make sense?

when you upgrade to bigger width wheels and the track needs to be checked for modification paperwork. is it the centre of the wheel/tyre the measurement they take, also what's the maximum increase in width of the track you can have? my car has 8 x 16 inch ET+25mm wheels as standard and i want to go to 9 x 18 ET+20mm. as i work it out even though i am going 1 inch wider wheel i am only really going +5mm increase in track each side, 10mm in total. is that correct?
