carby, fuel delivery advice



see the way the fuel inlet fittings are?

turns out i never noticed that they are pointing towards the cabin. any reason for this? or would i be able to flip them around 180 and have the fuel entry coming in from the front?

seems pointless to run a longer fuel hose...?

    Yes, you can flip them around. most likely plumbed this way for running a electric fuel pump rather than a mechanical pump.

    Yes Gdub was running an electric pump with these...

    Do make sure if you are turning them round the otherway that you use a good fuel line to the mechanical pump though - and dont put a filter in this short line - put it befor the pump... It is right next to the dizzy and any split from the hose or filter onto the dissy and it goes up like a dog - WOOF !!!!

    My engineer made me take out a fuel filter between the mechanical pump and the carbs for my engineering certificate and when you see a fuel fire (or are sitting in a buggy with the engine right behind you head going up in flames) you will understand...

    No he wasn't!

    I was, and still am running a standard mechanical pump!

    They are like that because that is how they were when i got them. On an Alfa the carbs are on the opposite side of the engine. These came off a GTV.

    On factory Dellorto fittings you cant just turn them around as they only fit one way and i never saw the point in buying new ones. I just ran a longer hose from the fuel pump to the inlet on the back carby.

    It makes abosolutely zero difference!

    hey Gdub what filters did u use on these carbs? i was thinking socks but apparently they can restrict flow???

    I just used foam socks. they flow alright as long as you clean them when they look dirty and re-oil them correctly.
