rebuilding/modding 1300 vs 1600

hello, sorry if this is in the wrong spot!!

ok.... so is it worth the effort doing up the 1300 in a Mk1 Escort or should i go looking for a 1600 to rebuild?? the 1300 in the car at the moment is an unknown until i get it started ( battery is dead, starter solenoid may be cactus ) so i'm just tossing around a few ideas in case it's no good. do they cost just as much as each other to rebuild?

my other thought is if the 1300 is ok, get a 1600 and slowly rebuild/work that then do a swap later.

cheers
chris

COuldn't give away a 1600 18 months ago - had to scrap it.

From memory a 1300 high compression engine is not too different in power from a 1600 low comp. Try and track down a high comp 1600.

    Quokka to the rescue...

Escort 1600 Kent engine, suit rebuild 150 Ono...also have 1600gt intake manifold with 34mm carb also suit rebuild 150 Ono...baldivis
