Dog Box

I need information on dog boxes. What is the difference between a T9 with a heavy duty straight cut gearset and a dogbox? Why would I use a dogbox ratehr than straight cut with syncro? Do they handle more power? Are changes totally clutchless? Do they last as long/longer? Does it make gear changes harder in terms of having to syncronise the engine to shaft speed?

Just trying to make sure I buy the best for my tarmac rally requirements.

(Mk1 Escort, around 180-200hp at maybe 8000rpm)
