NSW Engineered rego.

Would like to explore the possibility of regoing my MK2 track car. only prob I can see is the full cage, I'm told no more full cages can be rego'd from 2004 on or something.
Any advice?
Can I rego in Tassie or something and transfer to NSW?

Matt, it needs to have an engineers certificate then pass a blue slip...the cage is not likely to pass the engineers report, best to show it to a few and see how you go

My engineer in Tassie has inferred a full cage is a no go as well. Even if so, you would need to first apply in writting to the transport dept for approval before trying to get an engineer to sign off and mod plate it for rego.

problem with full roll cage is when in an accident it will slow down the emergency services getting to you and also the damage that you car would do to another vehicle that is not build with a full cage. it's the same as using 5 point harness as seat belts it's all to do with the emergency services not begin able to act quickly.

Sit in the front seat of your car and have a look around. Things in front of you that you might bump if you have a crash are all padded to some degree. Steering wheel, dash, A pillar, Sun visor etc etc. These are the things that cause injury in an accident. When you race you normally wear a helmet. When you drive down to the shops you don't. If your head comes into contact with the cage without a helmet then it'll be close to game over. Same goes for passengers. You can make a strong case that a poorly fitted or poorly padded rollcage can make a car more dangerous in certain circumstances to its occupants, not safer.

Damage to other vehicles has nothing to do with it.

fair cop. But if I was in a rollover, i'd like something keeping the tin away from me. Why must we have a car for every hobby because the bloody Pollies cant get their act together?
