Visual inspection of a english diff to see if worn

I have purchased a second hand english diff 3.54 which is quite rare now.My question is, is there anyway prior to installing it in the axle to tell if it is worn or or will make excessive winning/noise when in use.
The play between crown and pinion seems negligable and teeth seem clean and when drive flange is turned the action seems smooth.

If everything is ok visually, no abnormal wear, chippped teath damaged bearings etc, just put some new oil in in and fit it...

You'll soon know if it needs adjusting
