Paul,

Different countries use different size tyres. This is not a size used in Australia. It's one of those British sizes, that is small (13 inch) and low profile. They even have 45 series 13's, unheard of here. There are a couple of guys who import old and unusual sizes. Be careful as often the quality is 1950's technology or the tyres are old and hard with no grip.
Off the top of my head, I think 205/60x13 is going to be the closest. They will stand a little higher which may not suit although they will be very eco friendly as you'll use less fuel on the freeway. Not sure if it will be measurable but you can claim you are saving the planet.
I'll have a look around and let you know if anything exists.
Regards.

205 60 13 is a common size, there are a raft of suppliers stocking these.

i would be very hesitant to put 205's on the front of an escort though, they tend to cause them to track quite horribly (especially when used with a quickrack). 185's don't appear to have this problem and there is less chance of them rubbing on the rear wheel arches and front struts/guards.

just my 2 cents....

Paul,
No one I know has ever seen a 205/50x13 much less sold them in Australia. I am curious as to how you came about this size tyre. Your choice of sizes is limited. In relation to 205/60x13, I can't agree with Scott mk1 that this size is common, unless you consider MK2 Escorts and LJ XU1 Toranas to be common. They are not. The number of manufacturers and distributors stocking this size is ever diminishing. Very few tyre dealers hold this size in stock.
In addition you cannot blame tracking exclusively on tyre size. Yes the chances of tracking or tramlining increases as the tyre gets wider, however the tyre pattern (tread design) has a large influence on tramlining. I have had 205/60s on a Mk2 Escort with no experience of tramlining.
The other possiblity is 185/70x13. Unfortunately there is not much in between these sizes. Paul, be careful not to trade off quality and performance for size. Size is NOT always everything.
As far as rim size goes 185/70x13 is permitted up to and including 6.00 inches wide. 205/60x13 up to and including 7.00 inches.
I'll send you a pm with further info.
Regards.
