MK2 van with tarmac arches would look pretty sweet... Might even be room for a VR6/R32 motor....

Do a RetroPower Cars conversion and graft the vr6 floorpan to the van body !

Nothing much happening on the car front right now, I'm waiting for parts again with the last large item I need to get from overseas on the way. Dad will be home with my gearbox bits the week after next so that will be the next job.

I was in the panel shop today to see how the car was going and they're on the home stretch with the roof and the right rear quarter, I was so chuffed by how its shaping up I forgot to take photos!

In other news I managed to pick up a pretty good deal on a set of wheels and tyres. Brand new revolutions and Toyo Proxes R888Rs with centre caps. I would have loved 205/60R13s for the tyres instead of 185/60/R13s but at the price I paid for the set I couldn't say no.

Love those wheels...
Will be interesting to here your thoughts on the Toyo's when the time comes.
I had a choice between them and the Nankang NS2R's, I went with the Nankangs after our local agent offered them to me at a price I couldn't refuse, but the Toyo's are still an option in the future.

I like Revolution wheels , 185s in 7in is what you need especially the sticky semi slicks . When they warm up they'll be flicking marbles up into the wheel well and may cause pimples on the top of the guard. A strip of neoprene glued there will stop panel damage . Yanks call them Nankang ditch finders lol, maybe they can't drive...

The inside of the outer guard up the top along the flat, where you rest your elbows on but underneath. Yeah yard style 😄👍
My mates RS didn't cop any pimples from a weekends track day at Mallala , tho he wasn't pushing it to hard . It might be more of a mk1 thing..

Got a start on the box today, everything was going great until I realized I've got no RTV for the gaskets!

Will have to finish it off tomorrow.

Option three, Grey! JB-weld RTV Grey to be precise, I've found it to seal the best out of anything I've ever used. Well apart from the VW/Audi branded sump sealer which is very similar.

Type 9 gearset is together, the sandwich plate bearings fought me a bit, I should have measured them before fitting but it seems the ones they supplied were like 1 or 2 thou thicker and didn't sit flush with the snap ring groove. I ended up having to flat sand by hand the two snap rings and take off a little thickness to get them to snap home. Massive pain in the ass but everything is done and in now.

I just need to chuck on the bell housing and the tail housing for now and put it to the side until I either modify the tail housing or order the new casted one.
