Thanks for that we have now been told the carburettor is damaged need to buy a replacement in working order.
Or look to buy a new carburettor.
Does any one have one for sale?
When replacing the original what would be a good choice to buy?

How are you finding the clone carbs? Heard mixed results but haven't personally dealt with them although I have been using non genuine jets, venturi's and other tuning parts with no worries. In fact the venturi's were much better quality than the weber items.

My father purchased the one off eBay this morning
Once I receive it I’m hoping pro carb will be able to build a good condition carburettor
If there not able then I’ll need to contact you at a later date
    Thanks

Drewdog, I had a clone Weber 38dgas on my yellow van, after some home tuning and changing of jets, emulsions and other tweaks it ran perfect.

I now have a few new 38 DGAS clones available, they include a Manual choke conversion kit it you want to run a cable instead of the electric choke fitted as standard.  $250 delivered

Cheers Marty, was looking at some options for the Mk1 Cortina when I finally get some motorvation to get back into it. As I said the non genuine parts I've been dealing with have been good so far so interested in trying the carb(s) aswell.

I also have a complete carburettor
As well as one totally pulled apart
    I’m not asking any money
you will need to pay postage.
Can anyone guide me to a clear picture of all springs and cable set up that controls the carburettor
    As on original thanks
