Duratec 25

I am looking to take advantage of new rules and regulations in the tarmac rally world by building a N/A 2.4L Duratec. As has been done many times before I will use a 2.5L block, a 2.3L crank and 2.0/2.3L head to get the best capacity and revability/power.

I have started looking around for a Duratec 25 engine (I only will use the block, timimg chain and front cover) but am not seeing much. What Fords had the Duratec 25 Petrol engine?? I see alot of 2.5L diesels but assume that is an entirely different block. Used prices?

The Mazda SP25 is the same engine but I am trying not to go there as regulations require the engine to be from the same company and I am not sure if anybody would be able to tell the difference between a Mazda and Ford unit (eg additional mounting holes, different engine # series etc).

2011-2015 ford ranger seems to be the only one that i can find in Aus from the Ford L-series engined 2.5's.

    this is worth a read.

Blocks should be exactly the same in the petrol engines.

Petrol and diesel blocks the same...who would have thought that was possible!  I will look at the Rangers.  Cheers

you mean the old f-series petrol engines and the r-series diesels are the same.... the L series is an evolution of this engine, so not the same.

"Blocks should be exactly the same in the petrol engines."
sorry this statement was a little vague. i meant the 2.5L ford and Mazda blocks specifically.
but all the 2.0 2.3 and 2.5 blocks should look the same on the outside, so if you going to get a mazda block, then the only way someone could say it was a Mazda block is if they traced the engine number back to the donor vehicle.

having said that, my duratec 2L has 2.0 cast on the outside of it, so it might cause questions if you are making a 2.5 into a 2.4.

300-320 seems to be what ppl get.  SBD claim nearly 300hp from a 2L so a good strong streetable tarmac rally 2.5L engine should be easy....

    Nope!
i haven't found any, but be sure to post it when you do.

maybe get in touch with Paul, hes from Adelaide, might be able to steer you in the right direction.
or Roger Carroll, he had a local Adelaide guy do his porting for some good results..

I think I have spoken with Paul in the past and have already been in touch with Roger.  I didn't think he did porting but could be wrong.
