Urgent ignition questions

I have a few dramas with my ignition system on my mk2 escort van (1.6L) the previous owner has done some shotty wiring and I want to re do the wiring to the coil. I am going to get a new coil so should I get the resistor/ballast type. I am going to run power from a new ignition switch able source straight to the coil, that is why I think I need to go the resistor/ballast type coil, is 1.5ohms the correct resistance level? Is the factory ballast resistor incorporated in the wiring to the positive side of the coil?Is my system the neg earth version? Does this matter? I am also going the electrical ignition route so is there any other things I will need to get it going correctly. These are the parts I'm looking at getting too, hopefully I've gotten my head around the problem... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-45D-AccuSpark-Electronic-Distributor-Side-Cap-Vac-Advance-HT-Leads-/151239735129?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2336973759

Really just need to know will these parts work and is there anything else I need.

Thank you very much for your assistance! It is appreciated greatly!

pretty sure a ballast resistor is used if the ignition coil is a 9V rated coil. When cranking the engine over the full battery 12v is applied to the coil to give extra spark for starting .Once up and running with the key in the normal position for driving,  the ballast resistor is then included in the ignition circuit to drop the voltage supplied to the coil to 9v to stop the coil burning out. If you use a 12V rated coil you don't use a ballast resistor. I know the 2 litre escorts had a ballast resistor standard ( it was a length of resistance wire built into the wiring loom in the engine bay )  but not sure on the 1.6L. I may be mistaken though!

I bought an accuspark electronic ignition which replaces points, and they say to prolong the life of it run it with full 12 volts not off the coil if its resisted. I didnt listen to that though and just ran it off the coil. After 3 years mine is working still. Just some food for thought

Also run pertronix coil for electronic ignition which can be used either resisted or not but again I was lazy and connected it as standard. Coil was about $65

As shepv8 said, the resistance wire runs through the loom so I didnt want the hassle of trying to bypass that
