Traditionally the piston piston is offset to one side of the piston this is done to prevent the piston "rocking" as it travels up and down the bore.
Traditional forged pistons have the pin centred. This was a large component of their cold piston slapping. Current piston and ring technology now enables forgings to run quieter, be lighter and be more stable in the bore.
