Is there an easy way to determine whether a Capri is a BBS special ? I have come across a rather late model Capri of interesting paint and trim colour combo (not that that may mean anything) - can I tell from the ID number ?

Hi Paul, yes in fact the only certain way to tell is by the numbers.
Eleven cars, as far as I know four have been accounted for.

Thanks for the info Ron - the car I found is in a poor state and it isnt one of the numbers you have stated above. It is a June 72 so probably to old by about 4 months. BTW I accidenty gave you a negative vote on your last comment -  I was just playing around and couldnt undo it - it was a bit of a Monty Python moment on my behalf

thanks Paul

A guy turned up yesterday at our Concourse, tells me he bought a V6 capri minus the bonnet years ago and left it in his shed.  Now its time to restore it and needs to get hold of some of the yellow and black stickers as he'll have to strip the engine bay etc.  Mmmmm I say what colour is it?  Its a mustardy yellow he says.  Pulls out the ID plate from his pocket build date 11/72, forgot to write down the chassis number didn't I......anyway he has my number for parts so I'll get it.  Looks like another one has surfaced, thats 2 in 2 years after the Lime Glaze on that popped up in Warnambool last year

Fantastic!
If his engine/body number is one of those above I will gladly give him a couple of the stickers free of charge.

It sure is nice to hear of more specials being found. Im not sure why they are all turning up in vic tho, time will tell. Of course pics and numbers will be eagerly looked forward to.
On another note, my car was used as a wedding car recently and the four guys involved were impressed that the capri was so capable, if a little bit squeezy. They drove it for about an hour to get to the wedding with no mishaps, so number one son (groom)..... is forging his own memories with the capri.
