well car went back to Brenton @ Brae AutoFab not long ago for him to work his magic, after some chatting we decided that a 3 inch into 2x2inch pipes was the best combination for max flow and ground clearance.

as always he work was amazing and im super happy, its the highest u will ever get an exhuast on an escort without cutting the floor. ill let the pictures do the talking

and always with this car the more money i seem to spend the more things break.

I had plans of having the car finally tuned sometime in the next fortnight, but on the weekend whilst putting some kms on her the china spec turbo decided that it had had enough.
Luckily it was not a catastrophic failure resulting in engine damage but i did happen to notice a slight squeel (which at first i thought may have been a loose belt ) which happened to be the inlet impeller trying to eat its way through the compressor housing. so i limped the car home and its sitting waiting for a new turbo.

should flow enough air to produce 220+kw at the wheels whilst be very responsive.

more updates

have been spending alot of time around victoria's drifting scene as of late and have well and truely caught the bug.
so without completely ruining the look or usability of the car im going to try to set it up so that i can slide predictably and safely. whilst still being nice to drive when its on the street.

a few things i have picked up along the way to fit

if u noticed the coil overs are infact built from capri struts so i will be buying in some repro steering arms and having them shortened to increase the amount of lock generated by the normal steering movement

pictures of drifting wont be for a very long time lol. so much work to be done before i can even drive the car let along in full anger sideways.
have to-

Fit new turbo
Buy fittings and braid and make new water and oil lines to said turbo
fit new bigger flow fuel rail
Buy fittings and lines to make fuel lines
install new rising rate fuel reg
dial in new cams
Tune

thats just to get the car running, then i have to

Fit a gearbox with all working gears
fit front coil overs
Buy and shorten new steering arms
fit rack end extenders
Remount seats onto new seat rail to allow them to be further back
fit steering colum extender
mount and plumb hydraulic handbrake

and if i have any money i kinda need a basic cage to be let on the track

fun for me

That will certainly be in keeping with the type of mods done back in the early 80s when these cars were everywhere.

ok so things are starting to move along again with this thing

parts arrived

odered my -AN fittings and black braided line, which i will be cutting to perfect size so that the whole install looks neat and tidy unlike the old setup with was for a completely different engine but were made to fit.

made a parts offering to the escort gods

and it fits

but as always went to install my new fuel rail which i bought second hand, and not to my surprise it needs to be modified to fit. as it was made for a bpt in a fwd configuration not in a rwd setup like mine

as you can see rear fitting needs to be cut off and welded shut and another fitting off to the left hand side of the rail.
