hey guys sorry its been a while since ive updated, been doing a little bit on the car as it is no longer my daily drive. the car is now no longer on full registration and running on club permit. Have mostly been spending the time on the car doing all the bigger jobs that i didnt get a chance to do whilst the car was being driven daily. One of the first jobs on that list was to get a bigger turbo onto the motor to make the most of the strong bottom end i built, so off the car went to Brenton at Brae Automotive Fabrication http://www.braeautofab.com for a custom steampipe exhaust manifold with external wastegate and screamer pipe , custom 3 inch stainless dump pipe. Mounted off the new Brae manifold was a china spec GT2871R turbo with the internal wastegate blanked.

next on my list of things to do was to remove my engine to fix a rather annoying oil leak, being that removing the engine is a utter pain in the behind i decided against doing on my stone driveway, luckily i mate offered me the use of his hoist in his shed, only problem being his hoist was an hour and a half from home so i was on a strict time frame, and not having the car finished was a long walk home. The removing of the engine requires the head to be removed and the gearbox to come with, so with that done i checked the state of both my flywheels and clutch, fixed my sump gasket leak and refitted the gearbox and bottom end back to the car. This was now the perfect time to refit my ported head that i had to remove due to some teething issues along with my bigger cams. Now the car idles like its a damn rotary ( due to the cams needing a proper dial in ) and is in real need of a retune so i can wind the boost up past the 8psi spring i have in the gate at the moment

next thing that i decided to tackle was my very unimpressive boot fit out that was 100% function 0% form. Being the home to my entire fuel system which include 2x fuel pumps 2x fuel filters and a 2lt surge tank, along side a full size 15" spare, 1x12" sub in custom box and 2xamps and the battery is also mounted in there too i was pushed for space and it all looked messy due to being fitted at different times. So the whole lot came out and was mounted correctly and in order so that my space actually can be removed now. wiring was re run. Next with the cosmetics, the false floor was carpeted, a side panel to cover the battery box was made and a full width false wall to hide the amps and fuel system from plain view

hey joeyjonsey, sorry havent gotten back to you earlier, new engine setup is yet to have its final tune, but from my set up specs and such im looking at about the 200-210rwkw figure at about 18+psi. these are about the only pictures ive managed to find of my mounts, they looks very agricultual but do the job and have withstanded a year of daily abuse and what ever else ive been able to throw at them as for the tunel yes the shell was originally a manual shell, it did have a supra 5spd in it when i first purchased it and had been given some big hammer loving, all i had to do was lower the front x member by 25mm and mill a section off the side of the gearbox to make it fit right hope this has been remotely helpful, id like to see this conversion done more often as for the cost its really hard to beat.

I'm still just running the standard mx5 5spd its taking all I've got so far with only 5th gear starting to get a noose probably due to over use as I'm normally cruising in 5th by 60-70 utilising all that torque :)
