well so starts the now bi monthly process of removing the entire engine to remove another dead gearbox.
with the head having to come off to allow ample room to remove the motor it is now the perfect time to get those valve springs sorted.
Still struggling to source another cheap gearbox as i dont want to spend big $$, as the last box only laster 2 1/2 months, which was only a dozen or so times driving the car.
so once a suitable box is sorted itll be full stream ahead.

heres to hoping it will be done by Small Ford Sunday on the 3rd of Feb

better pull my finger out!!

there are gearsets available for the mx5 box but at $6,000+ fitting they are way out of my price range. and from what i have herd dont like much abuse either.

been looking at making up an adapter plate or bellhousing and running a completely different box,

but i need the car together asap again so itll be another  stdmx5 for now

Well, not much had happened on the gearbox front, have ordered one from qld (as was cheaper posted than any others in vic) and am still waiting for it to arrive, but in the mean time i have had the valve springs replaced with stronger units. 30psi more seat pressure should hopefully stop them from blowing back open when they should be closed.
still debating wheather to run the car on 15's to SFS or 13's. I do like how the 13's make the car look, but not liking my chances of getting thro the city without the 5-0 making an appearance.

will hopefully have the gearbox arrive tomorrow and i can get onto working on the car over the weekend when it is nice and cool, 39degree heat is not my friend.

Well, TNT came on friday arvo and made my day, 1x gearbox.
So i spent an hour on friday night prepping the car ready for the engine and box to come out. Saturday morning got my mate jye around and spent a few hours doing what we do best. Under 3 hours out and in, including some time spent laughing at how bugger the old box was once we removed the rear section to put it on the new box. A whole tooth was sound inside the extension housing, not sure how but it was there, along with a lovely grey paste that im presuming was the rest of the gearset.

i am yet to removing anymore of the box but will do so once the important stuff is done, ill be sure to post my findings.

Well, things have escalated with this thing, its running again and is now my daily drive until i purchase another car. seems i have a special touch when it comes to gearbox's considering the epic failure of my awd laser gearbox the other night, i put it down to too much traction not enough revvs.

bonnetless road testing, everything is soooo much louder, neighbours loved it <3

Thanks for the kind words
as for the cooler it is just a generic cheapo ebay intercooler, thing its about 400mm wide and about 340mm high, i was about the biggest i could fit using silicon elbow joins and keeping the std bonnet latching assembly.
could fit a much larger cooler is it had inlets welded to the backside of end tanks and run non std latches, but this one flows plenty and still give the radiator some fresh un heated air.
