My "Special D-port 165HP" eng no is CK17ME33191P
Does anyone know what the other numbers are for the other 10 "Specials" please, other than they all started with CK17ME ---- P ? (with one ending in C in lieu of P)

Bernie, at this link you'll find a list of the unaccounted for 'Specials' as at 14 August, 2012, posted by ronsmallford:

Yours is on that list, clearly now found, as well as another since found, that being CK17ME33190. This now leaves just 5 'Specials' to find, as listed.

No different to when I bought two penny farthings. Was told by a club not original. Yet years later, I put one up for sale, club member couldn't get here fast enough to depart with $10.000. if it's not down as one of the eleven,. I will need to do more research. By the way who wrote or typed this list of bss. Show it.

Den, the list of eleven 'Special' Capri's is taken directly from a Ford Australia Memorandum with the subject heading, Up-Rated Capri V6 Manuals and dated March 13, 1973. It was written by G.D. Grover, Specifications and Programming Supervisor, Parts and Service Office, Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited, Campbellfield. Only 4 of the 11 were sold by Bib Stillwell as BSS units, the other 7 units were 'Capitalised' units used by Ford Executives. Your CK17ME34040P is definitely, not on the list, sorry! BTW, there are a number of 'Special' owners who are or were, operating on this forum.

That's strange, yet you have another member claim he owns one of the eleven. The number of items and more seem to be on this car colour condition and serial numbered. Please explain?

Please explain what? You have failed to ask a question here. And BeeVee does own one of the 11 'Specials'!

Den, reportedly 13 y/o, appears very interested in our Capris and the "Eleven Specials" ...........  wish I had his passion and this amazing gift called the WWW for cars when I was 13 !

Terry, is there a list somewhere showing the "other" 4 ID numbers that were originally known by all and never on the "where-are-they-now-Eleven Specials" list ?

cheers

Bernie, only on the official Ford Australia memorandum letter referred to above!

As those four remaining Capri 'Specials' are alive and well, I'm not sure that the owners would want their vehicles specific identity numbers spread around the internet, in the interest of privacy, etc. I can say that one is in Queensland and the three others are all in Victoria, as well as yours. So, five are alive, five are still missing or 'deceased' and one was a write-off!

UPDATE:
I just realised that ronsmallford has already uploaded the actual Ford Australia letter/Memo detailing all information known about the eleven (11) Ford Capri Factory 'Specials'! You'll find it under the Capri by the Numbers area at this link: https://www.classic-ford.org/cfp/tm.aspx?m=85222

Enjoy!

Den vehicles are made and mostly sat exported stored then sold. Manufactures leave small items out and then install when a car is sold. All from a range need to be sold Quickly. Your car is a 1970 plate from what you have said with just this motor. Can you post your chassis number as your info can let all of us help you. Your motor didn't come with the car if I'm correct?

Reeni on line, we have already been advised that our engine number is not one of the 11, is it possible that when this engine was first entered into a car, for on road use, an engine number may be different to a vin number on a car, is this correct?

Reeni/Den, when your engine CK17ME34040P was first installed in a Capri, sometime between August, 1972 and November, 1972, it was mated with the chassis number of the same code, ie. CK17ME34040P. At some point your engine has been separated from the original chassis, either because it was replaced by another engine or, the chassis was written off or wrecked.
Hope this clarifies your question. Terry

2 racks came on V6 Capris Burman like you have Den and TRW rack which is not common.
