Howdy All, I am somewhat of an escort nut. My first escort was an rs2000 which drained me of my weekly pay packet through upgrades and the like. Many years have passed and it is true that you never really lose it for your 1st. I have been looking for a while for a Mk1 in good shape I can tinker with on weekends and recently grabbed a Mk1 I saw for sale online. My Mk1 2 door is a burn't orange colour and is powered by an FJ20 turbo motor. I know what your thinking go wash your mouth out with soap. But not many can afford a cossie transplant . Gearbox is FJ20 Commodore Group A disks and calipers all round and 4.11 Borg warner LSD, heaps of other mods and I am currently upgrading the shocks to Koni yellows all round.
Cheers |

Hi Muzza,
Your car sounds familiar. There was a Mk1 that a couple of mates built around 10 years ago which sounds very much like yours. Have you got any pics you could post up |

Yup! Thats the car and still has the same plates. It needs a bit of work to steering, brakes and suspension and has bad turbo lag so a tune is in order. Just did the front wheel bearings today and ripped one of the strut shocks out to take to wholesale suspension in blacktown, hoping they can find me a koni yellow match. Then thinking of installing a remote booster (vh40) under th dash to pull her up with minimal effort as braking is a bit on the hard side with no booster. Goal is to take it to a track day and see what she can do.
Will post some pics soon! |

Hi Muzza,
The right size master cylinder might be all you need to solve the brake problem...usually a really hard pedal means the piston diameter is to large |

| Interesting! Yeah the brakes have next to no travel and you do have to use alot of force to stop. As the calipers and disks are from a commodore one would assume the guy who installed them used the matching master cylnder. I'll check it out thanks! |

I'd go down a size on the piston...that should solve the problem,if not,2 sizes definately will |

| Just Heard back from the suspension shop. They tell me I can't get Koni Yellow adjustables for the MkII struts that are fitted. I really wanted the Koni's as they are externally adjustable. The only other option he said was to go the coil-over setup for $1900, I am keen to know what other people have done here and what gives good street/track performance. I don't mind going the coil over method if its going to give me good performance. |

| Re: using Bilstien I really want the adjustability factor as I don't want to loose to many fillings when driving around town. The dentist charges like mechanics! |
