Non-retractable side mirrors have a 3 pin/wire connector whereas the retractable ones have more pins/wires (7 from memory)

Thanks nick, there are seven wires on mine, 3 top and 4 below. Can you tell by simply looking at the connector? If not can anyone help as to whereabouts i should be looking to see whether there is a power mirror motor? Thanks.

There's one in the shed with a retractor motor that I've taken the mirror off. I don't know it's age. It has seven wires and a seven pin connector. It also appears not to rotate easily by itself, though I've not had it installed (The connector doesn't feed through the metal mounting plate, so there is some further connection past the retractor in the mirror I haven't uncovered yet). I'm guessing if you can push the mirror in toward the car over the normal bump stop and it feels like it is rolling over plastic, then it doesn't have a motor. If you can feel some sort of geared movement, then the motor is present. Please note, I don't know if they are designed to be pushed manually, but I'd expect for bumps and things that they would be able to shift manually as well as electrically.

So I was cleaning up my side mirrors and noticed that there are some Japanese characters matching the ones on my other Mr2 which has electric retractable side mirrors.
So now i'm wondering, how can you tell whether you have electric retractable ready side mirrors?
I would like to confirm this before forking out for a control unit with the 'retract' button. If anyone has one I can test this on it would be appreciated. :)
