Went for a driving weekend with mates through Gippsland and last weekend I did a DECA day. I have fitted up the rear sway bar and it has certainly improved things. Now the single pegging is worse though lol, makes it hard to drive with crappy tyres on the rear! (which I did for the expression session in the afternoon). New tyres performed really well but I swapped them off the rear for the afternoon session as the 1st and 2nd gear wheelspin was really starting to chew them out! For the next skidpan days I reckon I might get another pair of wheels and fit up some cheap Achilles or similar. Next mods will be an LSD and some stiffer front springs, I reckon the car should behave a bit better then and be more predictable when it gets sideways.

DECA vids;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5PO-4rOpJk
Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (Doogs)

maj
Perfect fitment and look, did you find the need for any guard rolling etc?

I lipped the rear guards and they don't scrub at all.
Now I have removed the screws from the inner guards at the front it never scrubs with just me in the car. If I have a passenger the front left still scrubs lightly on the inner gaurd, over very harsh bumps through a fast corner. In normal driving I don't have any problems with scrubbing :)
Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (maj)

Perfect fitment and look, did you find the need for any guard rolling etc?
Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (Mrskylighter)

Nice choice in wheels. Once my tax return came through I purchased a set of gold Enkei 92's from eBay USA;

After some consideration I opted for a set of Yokohama AD08r's in 205/50/15. A mate also bought a set for his SR20DET 1600 at the same time so we got a good deal. By all accounts they are the best street tyre short of a semi slick, and after spending most of the weekend in the twisties I tend to agree!

This wheel/tyre change and an alignment last week has completely changed the car! From memory I now have 6-7 degrees caster, 0 front toe, -1.5 degrees front camber, 3mm total rear toe in, and a bit over -1 degree rear camber. When I went in for the alignment we found the RHR toe link was bent and that wheel alone had 7.5mm toe out!
I have also purchased a whiteline rear bar and will be mounting that up soon.
Loving driving this car now! :D

Here are some happy snaps from some of the ks I did with my mate on the weekend;

Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (maj)

I didn't think Phil used the adub in a lot of khana's etc. He mainly used his poocar for that, or at least the only pics/vids I saw were of that car.

He lived on a farm and there were a few dirt roads nearby when he used to drive it around, so that would explain a lot of the muck you found.

Agreed it wasn't neglected when it was actually running. Just unfortunately saw too much time outside in the rain which caused the rear leak and eventual rust etc.
I had the exact same feeling as Wiso when I saw it for sale for similar reasons; before I bought my adub I encountered this blue one when Phil had it, and a work colleague who owns an auto SC targa top.
Little wonder I settled on a blue Auto SC T-Top ;)
Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (Dropped)

hey man i heard you were interested in a vs commodore?
Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (wiso)

i saw it for sale and a part of me really wanted it. me and phil bought our aw11's at about the same time so we used to chat heaps.

it never used to be neglected like that but at least some one is gonna give it a great go at

Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (Doogs)

wiso

Doogs

The bad

A little rust in the rear guard
Slipping clutch
Worn brake rotors and flogged pads
Dirty as all hell! -I think he must have sat doing doughies in a puddle or something, it was amazing the amount of crap we found under the car!

you will find the reasons for this are all one in the same. I was surprised how much the kings brought the car down, it really accentuates the need for some wider/better offset wheels!

I managed to borrow some 16x7.5 +35 BBS wheels off a mate with better tyres for Sunday, and so that helped with grip a bit.

We had a dry morning on the track but then at lunchtime it rained so for the first half of the arvo we had a lot of wheelspin and not much else!
It was good to get more of a feel for the car and find out what needs tweaking. I had one hairy moment as shown in the vids but thankfully managed to save it somehow! lol
I'm keen to get some semi-slicks on the car and also adjustable bars and an LSD in the near future.
Might not go as extreme as this ;

Here are some videos from the mornings session; (not all the MR2 ones have been uploaded yet but I will do so tonight)
http://www.youtube.c...feature=mh_lolz

I think my rear RH CV might be on the way out so I'm gonna park it up until I have a chance to give the car a good work-over.

Cheers,
Dougal
Re: Doogs AW11 - Targa + SC14 (Doogs)

Thanks guys, the paint is a bit rough and it appears to have had a respray at some stage.
