Found some staggered 17" rims with good tyres, thanks to GT Hardtop.

These are only interim until I get my 17" WORK wheels that are on order - they are staggered 7" on front, 8" on rear with +32 offsets for both.

Bob Jane T Marts at Victoria Park have been really good to me.......but they don't sell wheels for MR2's i.e. they don't have a good range of wheels that cater for staggering. They do have a huge range of tyres though.

I have done all my own research.......checked out what everyone else was buying on here and looked at those brands for something I liked with the right fitment.

Wouldn't call myself an expert, but I am probably one of very few females in Perth who knows about fitting wheels to MR2's!! :-)

I like the look of the 17" wheels, but at the end of the day, it is your decision - at least you can still get the right load tyres for 15".

Maybe something else to keep in mind - many new cars these days are coming standard with 17" wheels, so the tyre manufacturers are going to follow where the demand is......so more of a range for tyres that will suit.

Hope I have been of some help - maybe one of the lads on here might be able to give you pointers for a good wheel shop in Perth for MR2's........however, sometimes ordering over the Internet, having them shipped here is cheaper, and having them installed by a standard wheel and tyre shop (i.e. Bob Jane) is cheaper!

Cheers, M

Re:Looking for advice on 17" wheels for 1994 MR2 GT SW20 (Need4speed)

Any luck with split 17 rims ?
Can you recommend a good tyre/wheel person in Perth .
I'm in same boat, either go back to stock 15 wheels or upgrade to 17.

Re:Looking for advice on 17" wheels for 1994 MR2 GT SW20 (Monika)

Thank you Dylmrt, will definitely look at doing a staggered setup now.

Your suggestions are appreciated, but I would prefer something like the Enkei RPF1 in SBC.

Do you retail these with your suggested stagger and offset delivered to WA??

PM me your price :-)

Cheers, M

Re:Looking for advice on 17" wheels for 1994 MR2 GT SW20 (dylmrt)

i'd suggest sticking with a staggered set up rather than going 17x7 all round. 17x7 up front and 17x8 with offsets around 35 and you will have no clearance issues.

Here are a few we have that may tickle your fancy:

http://www.gorillaindustr...ch-desmond-regamaster/
http://www.gorillaindustr...012/11/17-inch-bbs-lm/
Re:Looking for advice on 17" wheels for 1994 MR2 GT SW20 (Monika)

OK, so my previous post was a bit premature........whilst the TOYO T1s are still advertised by TOYO and Tyrepower, they are discontinued and no stock exists anymore. :-(

Back to the drawing board!!

Re:Looking for advice on 17" wheels for 1994 MR2 GT SW20 (Monika)

Thank you Reddtarga - I have found that Tyrepower stock the TOYO you suggested.......for the moment this is my cheapest option and I will investigate new rims in the future when TOYO decide to stop producing them! Many choices in that size are 92V/W

Another option to keep a staggered set would be if you could find a set of the stock 15's (15x6 and 15X7)
(Toyo, Falken, Hankook 225/50 R15's are rated at 91V )

Looking for advice on 17" wheels for 1994 MR2 GT SW20 (Monika)

Hi,

Hoping that someone can give me some sound advice on 17" wheels for the Mister.

Currently running:
Enkei 16" white wheels - not sure of offset or width, but I don't have issues with front suspension clashes.
F: 205/45R16 87W
R: 225/45R16 89W

I have just failed registration inspection in WA because I am running 89W in lieu of 91V load rated tyres on the rear!!

I have looked high and low for a 91V to suit 16" wheels but it appears these have never been manufactured (happy for someone to prove me wrong!).

So in an effort to get the correct load rating I have to go to a 17" wheel. This means that staggering becomes difficult because it can't find a staggered 6x17" for the fronts to match the 7x17" rears, which now brings in to play the offsets should I decide to go 7x17" all around........I don't want to go to 18".

So from our trusty website the OEM offset is 45 for a 6x15" (front) - I have found some really nice 7x17" Rodney Jane Hype Illusion wheels with a 45 offset, but I am concerned that by putting 7" on the front I will only get 8.35mm possible clearance from the suspension.

So, my question is........is there anyone out there running 7x17" wheels all round with 45 offset, and if so, are you experiencing any issues / difficulties / clashes with front suspension???
