Brian crowed cams? And a few questions (Gatesys SW20)

I've read a lot on bc cams the stage 2s and how they apparently direct bolt in without having to replace springs valves retainers etc and still get good power gains?
Is this true or by doing this will just destroy everything?
Anyone had any experience using them and how hard would it be to do yourself with the right tools and some knowledge or is it reasonably cheap to pay someone

Also I was thinking of having a port and polish done worth the money? Or just get cp forged pitons and rings
Eagle rods and new bearings?
